Thai/New Zealand Language and Cultural Exchange

Today we were delighted to welcome His Excellency Mr Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand, who was here to speak to our younger students about the Thai/New Zealand Language and Cultural Exchange programme. The delegation was greeted with the College haka and then welcomed by Head Girl GypsyMae Harihona-Harrison. Mr Olsen then introduced Ambassador Marris who addressed students, talking about Thailand and the ASEAN community, as well as the Embassy's student exchange programme and it's aims, encouraging students to put their names forward for this incredible cultural opportunity. As one of the seven students nationwide who took part in the programme for 2016, Y12 student Holly Malcolm thanked the Ambassador for travelling to the College, before joining the Thai delegation, Senior Management and our Top Six students for a morning tea in the Redcastle.

The Thai/New Zeland Language and Cultural Exchange programme aims to promote the cultural exchange of ideas and experiences, and to also immerse Thai students in conversational English through the presence of the exchange students in their schools and communities. If you would like more information please see Holly.
