On September 13th, St. Kevin's College has the honour of presenting one of the world's greatest drummers on stage. Epizo Bangoura is a master drummer from West Africa and is touring New Zealand with one of his students, Oamaru's own Ra McRostie. Ra's journey into African music was the topic of the documentary film Peace and Love in Africa, created by Bronwyn Judge and screened recently at Oamaru Movie World.
All year 9 and 10 students have studied African drumming as part of their music courses at St. Kevin's, so this is a valuable and timely opportunity to see the "real deal" in person. The concert will take place during period 4 (12:10pm) on Thursday, September 14th. The cost of admission is $3, and will be automatically billed to student accounts. Parents are welcome to attend as well. Please sign into the office as a visitor and then come up to the auditorium.
