Thank you to Brayden Lindsay from the Oamaru Mail for use of this photo |
On Friday Yr 12 student Sam Evans received a special commendation in the form of a New Zealand Police Certificate of Appreciation for his heroic efforts when Hamish Gregory-Hunt was seriously injured at Raupo Creek at Labour Weekend last year. Despite injury to himself he lifted a boulder off of Hamish, carried him to a safer position and went for help. Southern District Commander Superintendent Andrew Coster was full of praise for Sam's quick thinking and his parents, along with Mrs Gregory-Hunt who was there on Hamish's behalf, were all - naturally - very proud of him. Congratulations Sam. You are not only a great role model for students at SKC and also our young people within the wider community!
