White Ribbon Ride 2014

Today the College welcomed the White Ribbon Riders as they called through Oamaru as part of their annual national ride.  This exciting initiative is a powerful reminder about the effects of violence on our families and communities, yet provides inspirational stories of change and courage.

In preparation for the visit our junior boys took to the kitchen yesterday, baking a chocolate oat slice for today's afternoon tea.  With the familiar loud rumble of motorbikes the riders (with Mr Olsen on board) were greeted with the College Haka from our Yr9 and Yr10 students before Leslie Elliott from the Sophie Elliott Foundation spoke to them about the significance of what the riders were doing nationwide.  The chocolate slice was served and while students took the opportunity to admire the bikes close up, Levi Emery got a birthday treat with a blat round the College on a bike!
