Year 12 students took part in the Drive To Survive programme which was held at the Waitaki Recreation Centre yesterday. Drive To Survive is designed to raise road safety awareness in young drivers through a simulated crash scenario and three workshops (Modified Vehicles, Make a Difference and Speed and Environment). Key presenters came from Police, Fire and St John, and they were joined by an A&E nurse, a fatal crash survivor and the friend of someone who had died in a crash. Our thanks go to Elton Crane, WDC Road Safety Coordinator, our local rescue services, and those who made time to present this important programme.
