Dear Parents/Caregivers
The annual retreats are approaching quickly. We travel to Waihao Marae, Morven (About 35 minutes north of Oamaru) where students will be taken through a programme led by a combination of tangata whenua and St Kevin’s staff.
Year 11 students will be split into two groups; while one group is on retreat the other groups will attend classes as usual.
Group 1will leave St Kevin’s on the morning of Monday 19th for an overnight stay and return for 3.00pm on Tuesday 20th of March.
Group 2will leave St Kevin’s on the morning of Tuesday 20th for an overnight stay and return for 3.00pm on Wednesday 21st of March.
This notice will allow students to arrange any job commitments. Group lists will be displayed on the school noticeboard. $60.00 (Day students) or $50.00 (Boarder) will be charged to your school account. Food is supplied by the hostel, hence the different costs.
Permission slips have been sent home. Please return it to the school office by Wednesday March 14th. Boarding parents should note this permission slip will be signed on their behalf by the Hostel Manager. If you have any concerns please contact him directly or email one of the address above.
Students should bring sleeping bag, pillowslip, towel, toilet bag and change of clothes. Activities involve flatwater kayaking, orienteering and some team initiative games. Our policy is challenge by choice.
