The Waitaki Youth Council is successfully run under the umbrella of the Waitaki District Council and this group of aspiring future leaders have organised a youth space at The Penguin's Nest, a local habour side cafe situated beside the Oaamru Rowing Club. Each Friday evening from 5-7pm the cafe is open as a safe hang out for local teens, with videos, games and activities available.
