The St Kevin's Sports Department has organised a workshop for its High Performance Sports students. The event will be held on Thursday, December 6 and will feature double Commonwealth Games gold medalist, David Nyika.
Nyika, 23, competed in his first Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 when he was just 18. He won the final in his weight division, securing the gold - a first for New Zealand since 1990! He went on to place first in the men's heavyweight competition at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.
The workshop will begin at 9am in the SKC Auditorium with a presentation where David Nyika and clothing company owner, tetraplegic and spinal cord researcher, Nicko Maximus, will speak to all Year 9 and 10 students. The focus of their presentation will be around challenges, opportunities, resilience and having goals.
