The week before Easter saw a group of
students head into the Hopkins Valley on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary
Award Expedition. Nine of our students
were joined by two from Waitaki Girls, with Mr Collins, Mr Farrell and Mr Dixon
making up the “shadow party”. “Accepting
challenge with enthusiasm” would have to be the theme as the group met and
mastered all that terrain and weather put before them over the four days. The positive attitude of the group meant
everyone enjoyed the expedition greatly, even in the testing conditions endured
at the end. Congratulations to those who
will now be presented with their Gold Awards, you have earned them well.
