Principal's Comment

Kia Ora Kevinians and Supporters of the College,

It feels like only yesterday I was welcoming students back to what we all hoped would be a 'normal' term 3 and now here we are at the end of it! While the term has presented its fair share of challenges with the reemergence of Covid 19 and our having to re- engage with Level 2 measures, on the whole, it has been a very productive and heartening term for the college.

Our Year 9 enrollments for 2021 are extremely healthy with our expecting 95 year 9 students in 2021 as of today's date. Tournament week was very successful with outstanding performances by our teams. The singing festival, while virtual this year and with smaller choirs, nevertheless managed to engender much house spirit and house debating got underway.

It has also been wonderful to see sporting codes complete their winter seasons under what have at time been difficult circumstances.

Today we welcomed the First XV from St Thomas of Canterbury for the final interschool rugby match of the year. We also had a St Joseph's under 12/13 team playing their under 12 team which added another fun dimension to the day. Last week I had the pleasure of watching the trap shooting between the two schools where we had a successful teams event. Mock NCEA exams finished today. A big congratulations to the senior students for their dedication to these.

All and all amid the blossoms, the sunshine and the last day of term, the St Kevin's College world is looking pretty good! Have a wonderful term break.

May God bless you.
