Arty Creations

As we head into the home stretch of Term 1, students are already showing signs of interesting artworks for assessments and portfolios.  It seems timely to remind students about protecting their uniforms and themselves in Art so please read this message from Mr Burton.

It's great to see the creative and skillful work coming out already this year.  We want this to continue but without damage to your expensive uniforms, or to yourself.  This year we have already noticed too many "paint or wet media" accidents and this is becoming a problem for us as well as your parents/caregivers.  To help prevent this from happening we would recommend the following:

  1. Get an Art Shirt, an old sweatshirt, heavier material T-shirt or similar (nothing too thin or loose that could drag or droop in wet paint).  These will need to be taken home and washed occasionally.  They are NOT to be decorated inappropriately and must be fit for purpose.
  2. School blazers should NOT be worn in the Art room, they are quite large and can easily be brushed against wet work and get in the way when moving around a busy workspace.
  3. Art students are reminded that there is NO SUBSTITUTE for being RESPONSIBLE for yourself and the welfare of others in this busy room.  Accidents do happen but there is no excuse for irresponsible actions.
These simple precautions can really help.  We have tried a range of things over the years with mixed success.  Thanks to everyone for your help and support in this matter
