Chinese Bridge Success

The South Island Regional "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition was held in Dunedin on Saturday and three Yr10 students from the College were placed for their efforts.  Diane Vidallon took second place and Nicole Orogida third, in the Junior Secondary Category for their fluent Chinese speeches and as a result have moved on to the National final in Wellington on the 17 May.  Chris Olsen won third prize in the Otago Sub-regional Junior Secondary Category.

This international competition began in 2002 with an aim of sharing and promoting the Chinese language and culture.  Mandarin lessons were introduced at the College last year and a group of 11 students will travel to China in the upcoming school holidays.
