Today we farewell our NCEA students as they are released to caregivers for examination leave. The final week of the term provides our students with the opportunity to demonstrate they can pass mock external examinations under the same conditions used by NZQA. It is important that students take the exams seriously as these provide their only backup grades for use in the case of sickness, bereavement or unavoidable circumstances stopping them from sitting their finals. If a student does not show up for their examination, caregiver's will receive a text to keep you in the loop.
This week we held elections for the student representative on the Board of Trustees. Thank you to the candidates who took the opportunity to present their perspectives to the College at the assembly. We thank you for putting yourself forward for this leadership position.
Last evening I joined fellow staff and whanau at the combined schools Pasifika tertiary study evening held at Waitaki Boy's. Past students shared their journeys and tertiary providers followed on from the work they started earlier in the afternoon at St Kevin's. Congratulations to our Polyfest group who performed with passion and panache.
This evening we extend a warm welcome to whanau, coaches and managers as we gather in the auditorium for the annual Celebration of Sports. Our guest speaker, past pupil and Sky commentator Marie Bowden has a wealth of experience and will be an inspiration to us all. Thank you to out Head of Sport, Craig Smith and Sports Coordinator, Sarah Clapperton for the work you have done in preparation.
May God bless you all
