Health Promoting Schools

This year St Kevin’s College is moving forward with the Health Promoting Schools programme.  Mrs Fowler along with Olivia Pope, Libby McGee, Rodney Bungard, Henry Ahomana have created a Health Council.
The purpose of the council is to increase the Hauora (total wellbeing) of our SKC students, staff and the community.

We have identified several key areas that we will focus on this year:
- Walking up the driveway – we want all students to walk up and down the driveway.  STUDENTS – this may mean getting up five minutes earlier to be at school on time.   PARENTS – please encourage your children to walk up the driveway unless they are injured.
We want to reduce the number of cars and the congestion they create in the morning and afternoon. It is also a simple way of getting a little bit more exercise.
- Biking to school – we want to encourage students to bike to school, we will look at having a bike to school day once a week with incentives.
- SADD – we will be promoting this along with current  SADD members.
- Smokefree – World Smokefree day is 31st May and we are having a day of activities on Fri 1st June.
- CANTEEN – we will be raising funds for CANTEEN including selling bandanas.

We look forward to your support throughout the year.
