Dear Parents and Friends of St Kevin's College,
Term 2 is now flowing freely with the full list of activities that we have come to expect in our school. I am always heartened by the way our students live our values. This was evident by the way the young men in our First XV took it upon themselves to raise money in support of the Cancer Society. They volunteered to have their hair shaven by the good people at Razors Edge. This was done at lunchtime in the auditorium with good humour and around one thousand dollars was raised by the boys. Quinn McNab and Tim O'Malley did a fine job organising the event and will present the money at a date arranged for next week.
On Monday a large group of our students traveled to Dunedin to participate in the ASB Stage Challenge. Our theme of Bonnie and Clyde, was a superb platform for our student directors, Shannon MacMillan and Albert Hailes, to showcase the rich talent of the cast. The standard of competition was exceptionally high and again St Kevin's, under the guidance of Mrs Evans and Mrs Taylor, produced what has been referred to as our "most polished performance ever". Well done, to all involved and I had a most enjoyable evening.
I look forward to the Art Auction this weekend. Staff and students have been preparing for this event for a number of months. The quality of the art and the venue at Redcastle should make the auction a highlight of the year.
May God bless you all
Paul Olsen, Principal
