Mana Pounamu Awards

Congratulations to Tiana Mihaere and Jazz Roundhill for recieving Mana Pounamu Awards last Friday in Dunedin.

Tiana recieved the Teina Award for Achievement and also one of three scholarships from Ag Research to attend the Hands on Science Summer School.  Jazz recieved the Tuakana Award for Achievement and an ODT Award for English.

It was an inspiring evening of celebration of Maori student success. The evening was opened by Moeraki Runaka at the Otago University School of Education. Schools from all over Otago supported and acnowledged their students with waiata and haka tautoko.  Guest speaker Case Mews delivered an insightful closing speech before a hangi dinner completed the evening.  It was a evening that left us inspired and challenged to achieve our best in all that we do.

Well done Tiana and Jazz and all your whanau for their endless support.  Thanks also to Eva Gregory Hunt our Kapa Haka kaiako and Merekite Wahitapu, Jessica Latavao, Sesilia Latavao, Jasmine Latavao, Masi Titilo and Tivinia Misiloi, who supported our Mana Pounamu recipients and St Kevin's College on the night.

Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuoho koe me maunga teitei.
