Senior Prizegiving And Graduation Mass

Last night we celebrated the senior academic year at the College with our Senior Prizegiving and Graduation Ceremony.  The evening began with a Mass celebrated by Father Wayne Healey and we were delighted to be joined by Msgr Paul Mahoney for the occasion.  As is the tradition of the Mass, students lit their graduation candles before processing out of the Chapel and gathering for a group photo, after which staff, friends, families and invited guests moved into the Auditorium for the presentation part of the evening.  For the first time the announcement of the College Leaders for the following year was made during the evening beginning a new tradition in the handing over of a pounamu stone pendant to the incoming Head Boy and Head Girl.  Congratulations to Isobel Ryan and Christopher Kearney on their appointments for 2014. The senior academic prizes for the year were then presented culminating in the presentation of the Br MM O'Connor Plate to the College Dux for 2013, Jibi Kunnethedam.  Charlotte Hunt was presented with the McKone Cup as the Proxime Accessit to the Dux.  Congratulations to all of our prizewinners, but a special congratulations to both Charlotte and Jibi.  A full prize list will be available shortly.
