"If Music Be The Food Of Love, Play On.”

Mrs Newton's Senior Drama students are tackling the challenge of William Shakespeare by directing and performing selected acts from the classic "Twelfth Night".  Today they spent time with renowned actor and director Duncan Whiting, who is currently in Oamaru directing the Oamaru Operatic production of "Chicago".  Based in Blenheim he has been nationally acclaimed for his contribution to theatre over many years and now a "Living Treasure" having been presented with the Marlborough Living Cultural Treasure Award earlier this year.

As well as travelling nationally as a professional director for various theatre groups, Mr Whiting also runs a children's theatre company in Blenheim and works regularly with the Marlborough College, having recently directed their production of "Jesus Christ Superstar".   He is always pleased to be invited to St Kevin's College whenever he is working in Oamaru and his visits provide an opportunity for our students to workshop with a career actor and director.
