Dear Parents and Friends of St Kevin's
The College celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary with a special liturgy in the Chapel on Wednesday. Fr Wayne challenged us to look deeply at the personal qualities that Mary displayed - persistence, presence and the unconditional love made her a tower of strength that we can model our relationships on. Thank you to Fr Wayne and Helen Mulheron for their contribution to the liturgy.
During the week I had the pleasure of meeting with Brother Joe Lauren who is on the Oceania Leadership Team of the Christian Brothers. As they are the proprietor of the College, it was an excellent opportunity to show Br Joe some of the property developments in both the College and Hostels. We shared with him current challenges and future plans. I would like to acknowledge the contribution that the Christian Brothers have made to the College and thank Br Joe for his continued interest in St Kevin's. His insight and commitment have ensured that the Edmund Rice Legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of the current staff and students.
Plans are now being finalised for the sports awards evening on 14 September. The tickets will be available from the Office on Monday at $15 each. We are looking forward to superb community evening celebrating sporting achievement. Our guest speaker is Warren Lees and there will be a social hour for parents before the formalities begin. l would like to see a good turn out of students, parents and supporters of sport in the College.
Finally, we wish Johannah Kearney and the members of the New Zealand Junior Rowing Team every success in their semi-final later today, New Zealand time. They were placed third in their heat on Thursday and have progressed to the semi-finals of the Womans 4 in the Junior World Championships at Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
God Bless
Paul Olsen, Principal
