Paul Olsen has been attending the Aoraki Principals Meeting, so it is my pleasure to write the blog this week.
As the school comes to the end of Assessment Week and I have seen students coming to and from their examinations, it has made me think of the End of Year examinations where students often have a three hour chance to alter their lives. Doors are opened in both subject choice for the following year and in a students choice of career. It is often difficult to get this idea across to students so parents can help with discussions at home and encourage visits to Mrs Manson [Career Guidance], these are essential from now on. The term 3 examinations are such good preparation in terms of reflection and what is now needed for revision to achieve to the levels that will give tour students options.
Last weekend students of the College and Parish were able to share with the Christchurch Youth Mission Team during their visit to Oamaru. We celebrated together at our Sunday Vigil Mass and our thanks to everyone who facilitated and contributed to the visit.
The nominations for the upcoming Sports Awards have been announced and I would like to encourage all of the St Kevin's College Community to support this gala evening as a celebration of sporting success in the College. It will be a special evening where we can celebrate and enjoy our community. Please ensure you have purchased tickets from the school office, if you need further information please read the advertisement in this blog.
With many winter sporting successes, our teams are in good stead as they head away on Tournament Week and we wish them all the best of luck as they take to the fields and courts in the spirit of competition.
May God Bless You
Kerry Ryan
Deputy Principal
