Principals Message

Dear Parents and Friends of St Kevin's,

This week the Director of Religious Studies - Mrs Austin, Board of Trustees Representative - Mrs Van der Salm and I attended the Catholic Education Convention in Wellington.  This national gathering is held every three years and is an excellent professional development opportunity, with world class keynote speakers inspiring us.  I was grateful that in our absence, Mr Ryan was able to support the administrative team.

Mrs Eatherley and Mr Fleury were invited to represent the College when the St Kevin's LEO Club was initiated on Wednesday evening.  I am excited to see our students taking up the challenges that the international LEO Club has to offer and thank Mr Murray Linwood and the Waireka Valley Lions Club for their support.

Our congratulations go to Mr Fleury who has been appointed to the position of Deputy Principal of East Otago High School in Palmerston.  Whilst there will be a period of time before he takes up this position we are thankful for his excellent management skills and wish him all the best.

I am pleased to report that our sports administrators have now confirmed that the Sports Awards Evening will be held on Friday 14th of September.  Note that the event has been transferred to the Friday evening in order to avoid a clash with the Dunedin All Black/South Africa Test.  Our Guest Speaker for the evening is well known cricketer and coach, Mr Warren Lees.  Warren is an engaging and entertaining speaker and we look forward to a superb showcase of sporting achievement in the College.  Please mark the date in your dairy and we will email and blog details closer to the date.

Finally, on behalf of everyone at the College I wish the best of luck to Johannah Kearney and the members of the New Zealand Junior Rowing Team as they compete in the Junior World Championships at Plovdiv in Bulgaria.

God Bless
Paul Olsen, Principal
