SKC Piper Abroad

Year 13 Cultural Captain Nick Parsons recently spent three weeks in Glasgow, Scotland preparing for the World Pipe Band Championships.  Nick travelled with the South Canterbury Highland Pipe Band of which he is a current member.  Whilst there, they had a pre-world competition in North Berwick where they were placed 1st out of 15 bands.  During the build up week to the world Competition the band were invited to play at the Piping Live Festival in George Square and also attended a lunch invitation from the Mayor of Glasgow.  At the World Championships the band played exceedingly well clinching a 2nd in the qualifying round out of 18, then onto the final where they placed 9th overall out of 45 bands.

"It was a fantastic experience and thanks all who have supported me over the past twelve months along with Mr Olsen and staff of the College".
