Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Friends of St Kevin's College

A big thank you from myself and the staff to those who came to school interviews last week. This was an opportunity for reflection on progress and more importantly gave everyone a shared understanding of the next steps for learning. The staff, parent and student triangle is valuable for effective communication, so there are no surprises. Parents make a huge investment in education and at St Kevin's we want to effectively support them. If you missed the opportunity to meet with staff, call the office to make a time to catch up with us. If you have any suggestions for improvement of the format, feel free to email me at the College.

On Saturday evening students were transformed into elegantly turned out young men and women in preparation for the College Ball. The evening was a grand occasion with a great band, sumptuous food and a stunning venue. My grateful thanks go to Anne-Marie Forgie and the Home & School Team who transformed the dining hall into a majestic ballroom, befitting the "Enchanted"  theme. The students were a credit to both their parents and the College. I was particularly pleased to see students putting into practice the formal dancing learned from their lunch time lessons. On behalf of the staff and students I would also like to formally thank the catering team, most ably lead by Linda McClelland as well as the parent Security Team.

The Catholic Secondary Schools Quadrangular Tournament has held on Wednesday in Invercargill The southern weather was fine but brisk, making for a excellent fixture. The Special Character connection between our Colleges was evident in the spirit of fair play displayed in all codes. Our thanks go to our hosts, Verdon College and we look forward to taking our turn next year in Oamaru.

Please keep encouraging past students of the College to add their names to the Past Student Register on our website. The Links tab has the AlumniConnect address.

Mr Ryan is making a steady recovery back in Oamaru and is looking forward to being able to catch up with everyone in the near future. Thank you for your continuing support and prayers for both Mr Ryan and Andrew Easton.

God Bless You All
Paul Olsen, Principal
